  1. This is so useful. We are a Christian homeschooling family. I have three kids, two are young twins and one is a lot older. Have you ever used MBTP Curriculum or not? I have been thinking of trying it out with my three during lesson time. Please tell me more about the curriculum, how it works and what is included as well. How much does it cost to buy? Where can I find reviews? This is my first year of homeschooling.
I may also borrow some of your resources, is that okay with you? I need a secular all in one curriculum ideally for the twins. What would you recommend? How do you teach two three year olds basic things like shapes, colors and so on? Any helpful tips and recommendations appreciated.
Thanks for the long list of curriculum options. I might use them in the future. Do you make a list of goals to work on each year? My original plan was to rely solely on things like workbooks, textbooks, exam papers, flashcards and worksheets. But now I have changed my mind. I want to make it fun and interesting for everyone. So with that in mind I have planned some days out to museums, zoos and the like. That is better I think.
What did you do for literature? I am clueless and cannot seem to decide.

    1. I did use MBTP for a short while, but it was quickly apparent it was a very bad fit for us. Since I used so little of it, I don’t list it above. I have an acquaintance who let me borrow several years’ worth of MBTP so I could see if leveling up would help us find a good fit, and spending several hours with the curriculum confirmed that it was never going to be a good fit for us. Lots of people do like this curriculum, though, so it may still be a good fit for your family.

If you click through to the more detailed K, 1st, and 2nd grade lists linked at the top of the page, you’ll find extensive literature lists that I created for each year.

If you poke through the blog, you’ll find more information on some of the resources. We don’t use an all-in-one. I tried a few early on, and they were all flops for us.

The Kid learned shapes from things like the Melissa and Doug shape sorting clock. Colors were learned by talking about colors around us, or by handing her the blue marker and calling it a blue marker. I did not use curriculum for these types of things. I started using curriculum when she wanted to learn how to read, and when she wanted to know how numbers worked and I couldn’t think of how to break down the concept without a bit of help.
